The officials are at it again, ladies and gents. Rangers defenseman K'Andre Miller absolutely got away with one in the first period after he pasted Leafs blueliner Timothy Liljegren into the boards from behind. Liljegren was making a play on the puck just a few feet from the boards in the neutral zone. As he released the puck, Miller committed to a hit from Liljegren's blindside. Luckily, as Miller made the hit, the Leafs blueliner was able to turn his body to limit the risk of going head-first into the boards.

Leafs Nation definitely was holding their collective breath, but thankfully Liljegren was okay and did remain in the game. Nevertheless, this was a dangerous hit and could have had a horrendous outcome.

Any way you slice it, this one was a textbook boarding penalty. Either Miller committed to a blindside hit on an unsuspecting player at a dangerous range from the boards or he hit Liljegren in the numbers from behind. Those were the only two outcomes of that play. Reckless, dangerous and warranted a penalty.
