Atop the list, to no one's surprise, is Edmonton Oilers centerman Connor McDavid, who received a perfect 7 out of 7 score from the voters. The only other player to receive a perfect 7 out of 7 rating is Colorado Avalanche defenseman and reigning Norris Trophy winner Cale Makar. This should not take anyone by surprise, as the 23-year-old just tallied 29 points (8 goals & 21 assists) in 20 playoff games, en route to a Conn Smythe Trophy and a Stanley Cup victory.
Auston Matthews is the highest rated Leaf on the list, finishing at number three with a 6.9 out of 7 rating. Matthews just cleaned up at the awards, winning the Hart Trophy as the league's MVP, the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy (scoring 60 goals in 73 games) as the league's leading goal scorer, and the Ted Lindsay Award as the league's best player as voted by the players association.
Leafs playmaking winger Mitch Marner came in at 11th on the list, finishing with a 6.6 out of 7 rating. The 25-year-old just put up a career high in points, in which we saw him finish with 97 points (35 goals & 62 assists) in just 72 games.
At 59th on the list, finishing with a 5.1 out of 7 rating, was defenseman Morgan Rielly. When it comes to skating ability and offensive instincts, Rielly is one of the best in the NHL. However, he is not the strongest defensively or in his own zone, which likely lowered his overall finish.
William Nylander finished with a 5 out of 7 rating (ranking at 63rd overall). Toronto Maple Leaf captain John Tavares rounds out this list for Leaf players, with a rating of 4.7 out of 7 (ranking at 84th overall). Call me crazy, but Tavares seems really low on this list for a near point-per game 2C last year.
