The Calgary Flames and the fans in attendance at the Scotiabank Saddledome were witness to a very scary scene on Saturday night
after defenseman Oliver Kylington collided with the boards head-first and lay motionless near the corner.

The play unfolded during the third period, as Kylington was defending Minnesota Wild forward Ryan Hartman. The Flames defenseman locked up with Hartman to disrupt the attack, but when the pair spun off of one another, it sent Kylington into the boards hard, off balance.

As a scrum ensued, Flames goalie Jacob Markstrom came to the aid of Kylington, protecting him from the sea of bodies engaged in the scrum after the play until a trainer could make his way onto the ice to tend to the downed defender.

Thankfully, the blueliner was able to make it back to his feet with some help from his teammates and was ushered off the ice on his own power. The update after the game from Flames GM Darryl Sutter was that Kylington was "fine".

Judging by what we saw on the play, Kylington is lucky to have escape any serious injury.
