It isn't the first time Carson has found himself in the public eye for the wrong reasons, as back in 2021 he was removed from Arizona State University's hockey team for "violating team rules." This afternoon, Danny Briere issued a statement regarding the video and his son's actions. "I was shocked to see Carson's actions in the video that was shared on social media yesterday. They are inexcusable and run completely counter to our family's values on treating people with respect. Carson is very sorry and accepts full responsibility for his behavior."
For his actions, Carson also released a statement today. "I am deeply sorry for my behavior on Saturday. There is no excuse for my actions, and I will do whatever I can to make up for this serious lack of judgement."
Carson's statement seems to be a generic, copy and paste apology that will only hold value if he actually follows through and lives up to the old saying, "actions speak louder than words." If he wants to take the first step to correcting his actions, it would make sense for Carson to purchase a new wheelchair for the individual that is in need of it if it was damaged. Also, a personal, private apology is also in order.
Not only did he and his father issue statements regarding the issue, but Mercyhurst University, Carson's school, also issued a statement saying that their Office of Student Conduct is working jointly with the Department of Police and Safety in an investigation. It would not come as a surprise to see Carson removed from his second NCAA team following the conclusion of the investigation because it is clear that he, as a 23-year-old has not learned from past mistakes.
