Former NHLer and current analyst P.K. Subban tore former Leafs GM Kyle Dubas apart on Saturday's broadcast over his handling of the Pittsburgh Penguins' roster.
In returning from the 4 Nations Face-Off break on Saturday, the Penguins were torched for 8 goals against the Washington Capitals, falling 8-3. During the broadcast, P.K. Subban, who had been under fire for supporting the U.S. over Canada ahead of the 4 Nations final, blasted the former Leafs GM for how he has handled the Penguins' roster since taking over as President and GM.
"You're getting paid 7 million dollars a year. Give Mike Sullivan better players, give Sidney Crosby a team to play with. If you're going to rebuild, rebuild. Pick a lane. It's on you."
Subban wasn't alone in his view on the Penguins however, as Mark Messier agreed with his take citing that this would be the third season in a row without Sidney Crosby in the playoffs.
While Subban may not agree with what Dubas has done, leaving Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang to suffer with an insufficient roster, many came to the defense of Dubas on social media noting that he has 'picked a lane'.
The Athletic's Scott Wheeler noted that Dubas and the Penguins have 15 picks in the first three rounds in each of the next three drafts, clearly showing that he is in rebuild mode.
Although no one wants to see Crosby fade into the sunset on a rebuilding team, it is difficult to see him end his career anywhere else, especially with his extension including a no-movement clause.
It was a poor showing from the Penguins on Saturday that appears to have left many people in the media sour over the direction of the team.
