Earlier this week, Zdeno Chara was quoted as saying that the Vancouver Canucks were practicing how they were going to "raise the cup" and what order they were going to hand it out in during their 2011 Stanley Cup Final series. When the story first broke, Sportsnet's Jeff Marek said he had been texting Kevin Bieksa, who was a member of that 2011 team, who said that it was not true at all.

Tonight during the intermission of the Leafs and Flames game, Bieksa spoke out about the report and Chara's comments saying that it was completely untrue, noting that if it was, it would have been covered by someone in the media. The biggest issue Bieksa had with Chara's comments was the fact that it called into question the leadership group of the team, which boasts three Hall of Famers in Daniel and Henrik Sedin and Roberto Luongo along with himself and Dan Hamhuis to name a few.

To further defuse the situation, Bieksa mentioned that Chara also slowly walked back his comments loosely saying, "first is was they saw, then it was they heard". It's very clear that Chara was either caught in a lie or his words were twisted, as most of the media does with quotes, to garner more attention to the story. Either way, it is something that should not have been said, knowing that it would've been reported on had it actually happened.
