The Leafs could be in a position to add a player who they lost earlier this season on waivers, as two-time 20-goal scorer Ryan Dzingel has been waived by the San Jose Sharks on Friday.

Dzingel was originally acquired by the Leafs in the Nick Ritchie/Ilya Lyubushkin deal, but had been claimed by the Sharks when the Leafs tried to sneak him through waivers. The 30-year-old appeared in just 6 games for the Sharks, registering a single point before finding himself back on the waiver wire.

Obviously, Toronto's waiver priority is not high, so if multiple teams end up putting in a claim on Dzingel, the Leafs may not have the chance to re-claim him. However, GM Kyle Dubas did say that he liked Dzingel as a potential depth option for the Leafs, so I'd imagine he'll put in a claim.

Dzingel has spent time with Ottawa, Columbus, Carolina, Arizona, San Jose in his 404-game NHL career. He hit the 20-goal mark twice, both during his time in Ottawa, scoring 23 goals in 2017-18 and 22 goals again in 2018-19.
