When questioned about his play this season, Mrazek had this to say:
Not worried about it? Not worried about being paid $3.8 million per season for 3 years and producing a putrid .884 save percentage on the season? If Petr Mrazek isn't worried about the way he's played this year he shouldn't be in the net. He shouldn't be wearing the Maple Leaf on his chest.
Jack Campbell hasn't been much better than Mrazek of late, but at the very least, he cares and he owns it. He cares about his play, he cares about his teammates and he cares about winning. Campbell cared enough to play through the injury he's now sidelined with to help his team. Mrazek not being worried about his play proves that signing him was a mistake, and that it's time to move on from him.
Kyle Dubas said last week that he wasn't worried about the Leafs' goalies. Well Kyle, it's time to worry now. A trade for a goalie can't come soon enough. It doesn't need to be a big name, just someone with some experience who can be trusted to stop 9 shots out of 10 on most nights. Anton Forsberg in Ottawa seems like a good fit with a low cap hit and a reasonable acquisition price.
It's that, or just hand the net over to rookie Erik Kallgren and hope for the best. Either way, It's time for a change in Toronto. Petr Mrazek is not the answer in net for the Leafs.
