A former 2nd round pick of the Leafs is headed overseas this fall, according to the KHL's official Twitter account. After spending a year with the Krefeld Penguins of the DEL, former 61st overall pick Jeremy Bracco has reportedly signed a deal with Barys Nur-Sultan in the KHL.
Bracco never could breach the wall between the AHL and the NHL, but spent 2 and a half years with the Toronto Marlies before leaving the team for "personal reasons". Many had felt as though Bracco was ready to make the jump to the NHL after a 2018-19 season that saw him record 79 points in 75 games for the Marlies, but questions over his size, skating ability and his attitude prevented him from ever making the jump, and he would subsequently depart for Finland to play the 2020-21 season with KalPa Kuopio of the Finnish SM-Liiga.
This past season in the DEL, Bracco recorded 14 goals and 54 points in 54 games for Krefeld, which has ultimately led him to a new opportunity in a new league, which I'm sure he'll look to try to parlay into a deal with an NHL club next summer.
