Biz had stated that someone in Toronto had been responsible for warning all new players and rookies coming in that Babcock would be looking through their phones. This person had allegedly forgotten to tell the player in Toronto, who reported the Babcock behaviour to Bissonnette, that Babcock would be going through his phone.
"There was a designated guy in Toronto that would give all the new guys a heads up because he knew this was going to happen. Then apologized later to the player that reached out to me because he had forgotten to mention this is what goes down... This player wanted me to talk about it on the podcast, just so these younger guys would get the heads up and the warning. Never did I call for Babcock to get fired..." said Bissonnette.
Another former NHLer, Matt Murley, also revealed that another former Leaf had texted him with the same information.
"I had a guy that played in Toronto I knew that texted me that told me the same thing, but he got the heads up from somebody before he went in so he didn't have to deal with it."
There were also rumours floating around that multiple players had requested a trade out of Toronto before Babcock was officially hired because they didn't want to deal with his antics.
Credit to Bissonnette and Whitney for standing by their sources and helping the younger players, who are often too afraid to speak up because it may hurt their career. If you want to listen to their full discussion about the topic it begins around the 24 minute mark in the link below.
