The Avs are going to be fighting an uphill battle after losing Kadri and goaltender Darcy Kuemper and replacing them with Alexandar Georgiev and Evan Rodrigues. With limited options available to them outside of the trade market, the Avs are grasping at straws to try to avoid regressing this season.
To that end, the Avs announced on Tuesday that they have signed journeyman forward and former Leaf Alex Galchenyuk to a professional tryout contract. The club is currently sitting at 45/50 contracts and has a little over 1.9M in available cap space.
Galchenyuk has spent time with the Montreal Canadiens, Arizona Coyotes, Pittsburgh Penguins, Minnesota Wild, Ottawa Senators, Carolina Hurricanes and Toronto Maple Leafs over the course of his 643-game NHL career. He has amassed 354 career points over that span.
