Since retiring at the end of the 2009 season, Sundin has remained out of the public eye for the most part, making sporadic public appearances. However, according to reports, Sundin may be ready to re-enter the NHL in a different capacity.
On his podcast "Coming in Hot", Former TSN personality Brent Wallace mentioned that Sundin has been linked to a bid to buy the Ottawa Senators. The bid is headed up by Toronto real estate investor Ron Kimel.
"I did hear the Kimel family their hockey advisor is Mats Sundin," Wallace said.
Wallace also asked the question, "So are Sens fans okay with Mats Sundin if he were to be part of the Ottawa Senators organization?" Nevermind Sens fans being okay with a former Leaf continuing to own the Senators, how would Leaf fans feel about the greatest Leaf to ever wear the blue and white dawn the black and red?
Over 18 seasons, Sundin registered 564 goals, 785 assists for 1349 points in 1346 games for the Leafs, Canucks, and Quebec Nordiques. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2012 and presented Sens captain Daniel Alfredsson with his plaque during his induction earlier this season.
