The now 26-year-old Korshkov was originally drafted from the KHL's Yaroslavl Lokomotiv by the Leafs. He was taken in the second round (31st overall) of the 2016 NHL entry draft (the same year
Auston Matthews was drafted). He continued to play in the KHL until 2019, when he came to North America to join the Marlies for their playoff run. In the 2019-20 season, he continued to play with the Toronto Marlies. That year, he also played one game for the Toronto Maple Leafs, even managing to score a goal in his NHL debut. However, that game is the only one he has played in the NHL to date.
