OHL team trolls the Leafs over Stanley Cup drought via social media
We've heard the jokes about 1967 for as long we can remember, along with the "at least we didn't lose to a zamboni driver" and "win a round" jokes. Those jokes don't seem to phase Leaf fans anymore because they're so overused. Other fan bases complain about the Leafs always getting all the media attention, and yet they're always the ones that start the conversations about the Leafs by using any one of those jokes.
However, when an OHL team who's name is very fitting for the last time the Leafs won the cup decides to use one of them, you have to give credit where credit is due. The Ontario Hockey League's Ottawa 67's, yes they're named after the year 1967, threw a shot at the Leafs on Twitter today saying the Leafs haven't won a cup since they played their first game. Founded in 1967, the Ottawa 67's played their first game on The 67's played their first game on October 6, 1967 and since then have won more championships than the Leafs. They won Memorial Cups in 1984 and 1999.
