At the time, it seemed plausible that the Predators would look to negotiate an extension with Galchenyuk. After all, why acquire a player you had no intention of signing when you could have just taken back "future considerations"? Well, as it turns out, TSN's Pierre LeBrun is reporting that the Predators have no intention of re-signing Galchenyuk.
Following the trade to Nashville, Galchenyuk has now had his name show up on the rosters of 9 different NHL teams. Since being drafted 3rd overall by the Montreal Canadiens in 2012, Galchenyuk has been traded to or signed with Arizona, Pittsburgh, Minnesota, Ottawa, Carolina, Toronto, Colorado and Nashville.
Galchenyuk's tenure in Colorado didn't go as well as expected after the 29-year-old was injured during last preseason. He did manage to make it into 11 games for the Avs last season, but recorded no points. He is now expected to hit free agency on July 1st.
