The Philadelphia Flyers are hoping this upcoming season goes a lot better than last year. They are coming off of an abysmal season, finishing with 61 points, good for fourth-worst in the league. Having traded away long time captain Claude Giroux at the trade deadline, it has left a big hole in the lineup, and big shoes to fill in terms of leadership in the locker-room. Luckily for Philly, they received great news about another long-time Flyer, Sean Couturier. Per a report on Monday, Couturier has been cleared to play and will participate in training camp.

Couturier has been with the Flyers since he was drafted 8th overall in 2011. The 6'3" Forward has been an elite two-way centreman for the organization, posting 460 points in 721 games, with a +82 rating. Having played only 29 games last year, it will be important for Couturier to stay healthy, so he can be relied upon to play in any situation and put up the 25+ goals and 60+ points that Flyers fans have become accustomed to.

Having last played an NHL game on December 18th, 2021, Couturier may have some rust to shake off before he can return to his usual self. Luckily for him (and the Flyers) he has a full training camp to get ready.

With Giroux no longer on the roster, Couturier's veteran leadership will be as important as ever for this team to improve from their disappointing season.
