Gary Bettman certainly didn't appear to be too pleased with the Habs winning the Draft Lottery
Leafs Nation is firmly fixated on Tuesday's massive comeback over the Tampa Bay Lightning and a 3-2 series lead over the defending champs. But, in the background and outside of the playoff picture, a heated rival won the NHL Draft Lottery and will select first overall in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. The Montreal Canadiens.
We all know that NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman has more love for the US market than he does for the Canadian market. That's why, when the lottery balls came down in favour of the Habs, Bettman seemed surprised, possibly even disappointed, despite Montreal having the highest percentage chance to win.
Call me crazy, but that doesn't seem like the reaction of a guy who is too thrilled to be announcing that one of the league's most profitable teams will pick first overall for the first time since they selected Doug Wickenheiser 1st overall back in 1980.
