The roster shuffle continues for the Toronto Maple Leafs but this time around there is a huge silver lining. By activating Matt Murray from the LTIR on Saturday, the Leafs subsequently had to send down Joseph Woll to the Toronto Marlies. That move left the Maple Leafs with 928,750$ of cap space available with a roster of 23 players.

This is good news because not only did they get Matt Murray back between the pipes with the post-season right around the corner but that leaves them with just the right amount of money to sign Matthew Knies to an ELC once his collegiate season comes to an end. His max cap hit would be 925,000$.

Subject to an astounding amount of trade rumours, the University of Minnesota product, has 21 goals and 39 points in just 34 games. Kyle Dubas made sure not to include their prized prospect in any dealings and in doing so, the Leafs will be adding another offensive weapon to their already high-octane offense.

For those anxiously waiting on Knies' debut with the Leafs, the NCAA tournament is broken into 2 categories: the Regionals and the Frozen Four. The University of Minnesota are the favourites to win it all but if they are upset in the Regionals, then Knies could sign any time between the 23rd of March to the 26th of March. If they advance to the Frozen Four, then they'd have to wait between the 6th of April to the 8th of April.
