When the exhibition schedule kicked off this week, both Cowan and Minten opened in feature positions within the top-six for Canada, with Cowan drawing top line duties for the exhibition opener, while Minten shifted from center to wing, skating on the team's second line.
Minten has reprised his role on the 2nd line LW again today at practice, while Cowan has been shifted over to 3LW, largely due to the late addition of Bruins rookie Matthew Poitras being added to the roster late, pushing Conor Geekie over to LW on that top line. Both Cowan and Minten, however, remain primary fixtures for Canada's special teams. Minten has slotted in on the flank for Canada's top power play unit, while Cowan is penciled in as the team's net front presence on their 2nd PP unit.
It's been quite awhile since the Leafs had even one WJC representative playing for Canada. It's going to be a lot of fun for fans to have not one, but two on the team two watch in Canada's pursuit of gold, with the tournament officially kicking off on Boxing Day.
