Is there anything worse than players who embellish in the NHL? Listen, I get it. Games, especially in the playoffs, are won and lost with special teams - but for the love of God, the NHL needs to extend coaches challenges to allow for reviews on obvious embellishments.

Case in point, this play by Igor Shesterkin during the second period of Game 3 between the Bolts and Rangers. Corey Perry does what Corey Perry does, and goes to the net to create some havoc. There's no question that Perry makes contact with the mask of Shesterkin, but just look at this sell job..

The Rangers would score on this power play, much to the dismay of the Bolts who probably didn't deserve to even be shorthanded in the first place, as both Perry and Shesterkin should have been called for a high stick and embellishment.

I just don't get the allure of embellishing. Sure, you get a call, but then you earn a reputation for being a diver and you're less likely to draw calls in the future, because NHL officials don't like being made a fool of (even though they do a good enough job of that themselves).

Bad look for Shesterkin here, IMO.
