Insider makes an ''insane'' Leafs prediction
Unless you've been living under a rock, I'm sure you're aware by now that the Leafs are looking at any and every scenario that could improve their blueline ahead of the playoffs. There's a lot on the line this year and the Leafs simply cannot afford to just stand pat.
With that in mind, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman had a wild Leafs prediction in the most recent edition of 32 Thoughts, that raised more than a few eyebrows.
"Completely insane Toronto prediction: Zdeno Chara. The Maple Leafs like veterans with great attitudes. Wayne Simmonds. Jason Spezza. Joe Thornton. Ron Hainsey. Obviously, Chara would have to want to do it. The Maple Leafs wouldn't mind some blueline meanness. He'd qualify."

Chara would certainly check some important boxes for the Leafs should such a trade materialize. He's big, he has some serious snarl, he has an abundance of playoff experience, he's a leader and he undoubtedly improves their blueline - even as a third pairing option with limited minutes.
As we all know, the Islanders are well outside of the playoff race and will be sellers at the deadline. The question is, does Leafs GM Kyle Dubas have any interest in the 44-year-old?
