Things have not gone according to plan for the Canucks this season and everyone could see the writing on the wall. The team needed to make a change and it's a pretty well-known fact that Boeser does not seem to gel with current head coach Bruce Boudreau. The Canucks, according to Friedman, have granted Boeser and his agent permission to talk to other teams to see if there is a potential fit for him within their organizations.
Boeser has 2 years remaining after this one on his current deal and carries a cap hit of $6.65M per season. It's interesting to note that Boeser does not have any form of trade protection built into his contract, so the Canucks could very well trade him anywhere they please. With the organization granting Boeser and his representation permission to speak with other teams, it appears as though the Canucks want to try to do right by Boeser.
I don't think the Canucks are going to have any problem finding a new home for a 25-year-old scoring winger with four seasons under his belt with 23 goals or more. The one issue here that clubs might have is that they might be concerned about Boeser's ability to remain healthy. I don't necessarily think it will impact his ability to be moved, but it will certainly impact what teams might be willing to pay for him asset-wise.
Boeser has racked up 125 goals and 271 points over 343 regular season games in his young NHL career. That's some excellent production. While Boeser doesn't have a wealth of playoff experience, he does have 4 goals and 11 points in 17 career playoff games.
