During the most recent edition of 32 Thoughts, Elliotte Friedman touched on the Leafs' plans and whether or not adding to the current roster is in the cards ahead of the trade deadline. Friedman suggested that from what he has heard, the Leafs are still interested in adding.
By the sounds of things, the Leafs are doing their due diligence and calling around vigorously to try to secure an upgrade on the blueline. Who that might be remains up in the air, but obviously, the Leafs remain interested in Chris Tanev, someone who several insiders have said is their primary target from day one.
The Leafs are currently on their bye week, with the NHL's All-Star break also taking place, so this time off should give Leafs GM Brad Treliving a great opportunity to assess his needs and make some additional calls with the trade deadline now just over a month away. In the past, we've seen the Leafs make moves well ahead of the deadline. The questions are, will Treliving do the same, will he wait until closer to the deadline or will he simply stand pat?
