International mega star wins over $1M on a bet involving the Leafs
The Leafs had a golden opportunity to close out their round one series against the defending Stanley Cup champs on Thursday in Tampa, but came up just short, falling 4-3 in OT to the Lightning, securing a date with the Bolts for Game 7 in Toronto on Saturday night.
The loss on Thursday was not entirely on the Leafs, as the officiating seemed to be tilted heavily in Tampa's favour. Nevertheless, what has happened happened and nobody can do anything to change it.
There is at least one individual who is VERY happy with a Game 6 loss for the Leafs. International recording artist and mega star, Drake. Prior to the start of the playoffs, Drake placed a $400,000 bet that the Leafs/Lightning round one series would be decided in 7 games. The odds of the bet was +300, the payout a lofty $1.2M.
Now that Drake has made his money, let's hope the Leafs can get it done on Saturday night at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. The Leafs have outplayed the Lightning for much of the series, especially at 5-on-5. There is a good chance that we'll see another close game on Saturday.
