Jack Campbell quickly became the most likeable guy in Toronto during his tenure. Unfortunately, his tenure in Toronto didn't end in the happiest of ways. The Leafs lost in Game 7 again, this time to the Tampa Bay Lightning, and Campbell's agent reportedly cut off negotiations with the Leafs very early on, leading Campbell to Edmonton where he signed a 5-year deal worth $5M per season as a UFA.

Now an Oiler, Campbell played the first two games of the season where he gave up 2 goals on 4 shots against Vancouver and 4 goals on 11 shots against Calgary before being pulled. The Oilers battled back and secured the win against Vancouver, but were unable to do the same against Calgary. Through two games Soupy now owns a forgettable 5.98GAA and an abysmal .851 save percentage.

Campbell has struggled so much in his first two games that even with 2 full days off between Saturday's game and tomorrow's game against Buffalo, Edmonton is deciding to start Stuart Skinner instead. The inconsistency he has shown the first two games is why Leafs GM Kyle Dubas didn't want to commit to a 5-year deal as that lack of consistency was his biggest issue when he was a Leaf. He would play great most nights but even on nights he stood on his head, there was always a soft one that would squeak through. With a weaker defensive situation in Edmonton, Campbell is facing more shots and is failing to rise to the occasion.
