Jake Muzzin has not practiced with the team since being sidelined with a concussion against the Montreal Canadiens back on February 21st, but he has skated solo several times.

Muzzin continued to skate by himself prior to Leafs practice this morning as he continues to recover from his most recent concussion. Nothing really noteworthy, as this has been the norm for the past few weeks for him. However, what surprised everyone is that he remained on the ice for practice on Tuesday morning.

This is a great sign for Muzzin and the Leafs as they continue to struggle with their D pairings with him out of the lineup. While he was not paired up with anyone in the Leafs' top 6, he was paired with Dermott and participated in drills, so it appears that he is progressing in the right direction without any setbacks. If things continue to progress this well, he is on target to make his return before the end of the season, as the Leafs had projected a week or so ago.

With the trade deadline only a few days away, this news could sway Dubas away from going after a big name and continue to look towards adding depth players with more playoff experience than his current blueline. That is, unless he plans to move out some money.
