Chychrun has produced 3 goals and 3 assists for 6 points in his first 7 games back, but all 6 of those points have come in his last 6 games. Given the importance that teams place on their defense corps to be able to produce from the blueline, Chychrun is proving his value to any potential suitors who may come along. His trade value undoubtedly took a hit after he sustained an injury at the end of the 2021-22 season and did not return until late last month, but his production over the last 2 weeks should almost certainly be bringing his value back up.
The most recent reports on Chychrun were that the Coyotes had come down some on the potential asking price, which was once set at 4 pieces, not unlike what the Buffalo Sabres received for Jack Eichel. Now, it is believed that the Yotes are looking for a 1st round pick, either a second 1st rounder or a prospect equivalent and potentially a third piece (mid-round pick or a decent prospect).
With Chychrun still being under contract for 2 more seasons after this one at $4.6M per season and being just 24 years old, it's reasonable to assume that the Yotes will get close to what they're looking for. One has to wonder whether a deal close to what Ottawa gave up for Alex DeBrincat may come pretty close to what the Coyotes end up with for Chychrun.
