According to Wallace's unnamed source, the asking price remains high, with the Yotes looking for two 1st round picks plus a high, high-end prospect. In such a deal with the Senators, the Coyotes would be expected to also take on the contract of Nikita Zaitsev. Naturally, for a team who is entrenched in a rebuild and will need to reach he cap floor, it's very likely that the Coyotes would be amenable to taking Zaitsev back in the deal.
Wallace is not your typical news breaker, so we'll have to wait and see if there's any real smoke behind this one.
The last report from TSN's Shawn Simpson suggested that the Coyotes want to have a deal done before training camp opens up, which means they have approximately one month to work to hammer out a trade.
The Senators have the picks, they certainly have the prospects and they have the cap space to make it all work. Bringing in Chychrun would be arguably the most impactful move of the summer for the Sens if GM Pierre Dorion can make it happen - even with Ottawa already having acquired Alex DeBrincat earlier this summer.
Chychrun is signed for 3 more seasons for just $4.6M. At just 24 years old, he already has an 18-goal season under his belt. A player of Chychrun's talent could certainly go a long way in improving a D corps in Ottawa, which has been shaky at best for the last several seasons.
