He was a Leaf for just 72 hours but it's been an eventful day for former Leaf and current Kraken forward Jared McCann. Not only did he sign a lucrative 5-year extension that'll pay him $5 million per season, but the former Leaf has done some reflecting on his brief time in Toronto.

The Stratford, Ontario native joked about being a Leaf for 72 hours and revealed that even his friends poke fun at that. Ecstatic about coming to Toronto, McCann was informed about Kyle Dubas' plans with the 25-year-old after he was acquired by the Leafs this past summer.

The 25-year-old revealed something fun about his short tenure as a Leaf on Tuesday. Much like Leafs Nation, McCann himself was fooled by the leaked video that suggested that the Kraken planned on taking Alexander Kerfoot from the Leafs. McCann said that after he saw the video, he immediately called his agent to see if he was remaining a Leaf.

Unfortunately for the Leafs, they had a really good player in the palm of their hands and fumbled it. McCann is having a career year in Seattle with 21 goals and 33 points in 50 games.

Now, Kyle Dubas and the rest of Leafs Nation can only wonder what could have been had he chosen to protect McCann and instead make Seattle chose between one of Justin Holl or Travis Dermott in the expansion draft.
