There seems to be a distinct difference in how Spezza and the GM's, including Steve Yzerman, Ron Hextall, Kevin Cheveldayoff and others go about their business. While the latter have their eyes locked on the ice and an intense focus, the former was engaged in some vigorous note-taking to make sure nothing was being overlooked.
Perhaps the difference in approach is because the GM's also have eyes from various scouts looking for specific things while they're simply there to take in the action, and Spezza was there on assignment from Leafs GM Kyle Dubas with some very specific homework.
Spezza, as we know, is all about the details. He is never a man of few words and always has something to say, which could be of great benefit to Dubas and company. Spezza seems like the type of guy who will provide a wide range of insights on players, both from personal experience playing with and against them, as well as from an eye who knows the game so well. Either way, it looks like he's taking his new role very seriously and plans to leave no stone unturned.
