New Flyers' head coach John Tortorella has already called out the players and stated publicly that he has concerns about some situations in the dressing room. Those include lack of accountability and players not being prepared. With long-time captain Claude Giroux now in Ottawa, the Flyers are in need of a new voice to hold the players accountable and to lead by example to ensure that the Flyers are putting forth their best effort every night.

Torts is stern by nature and is not afraid to bench a superstar because of their poor play or a lack of commitment - just ask Patrick Laine and Pierre Luc-Dubois. According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, Tortorella has already put the message out there that he will not tolerate any half-assed efforts in training camp and has confirmed that anyone who doesn't show up in shape and ready to work will run the risk of being cut from the team, regardless of tenure or reputation.

On his 32 Thoughts podcast Friedman mentioned that he had heard Torts told the players, "You better show up ready for training camp this year." Not only did he hear of the message Tortorella relayed to the players, but he also spoke to one Flyer who said that the message was, "If you're not ready to go, you're gonna be left behind. And we (Tortorella and management) will have no hesitation leaving people behind."

With Tortorella already making it very clear that training camp will be intense, the Flyers' players will be under immense pressure to bring their absolute best effort.
