Nazem Kadri has been recovering from thumb surgery since being injured in Game 3 of the Avs' round 3 matchup against the Oilers, thanks to a dirty play by Evander Kane. At the time of the injury, the Avs did not rule him out of the playoffs completely.

It appears that not shutting him down for the playoffs was a wise move on their part as Avs Head Coach Jared Bednar confirmed this afternoon that Kadri has skated the past two days, with a stick in hand, and has done some light stick handling work. Bednar has not given a timeline on a potential return for Kadri yet, but at the start of the Cup Final, he did say that he was listed as day-to-day.

Kadri's return will depend on how much strength he can gain back in him thumb and how comfortable he becomes handling a puck with a brace.

Should he return, it will provide a huge boost for the Avs, as they will have their number 2 center back and Bednar won't have to worry as much about matchups once the series shifts to Tampa for games 3 and 4. However, whether Kadri will travel with the team remains to be seen.
