Per Peng, the New York Islanders, Dallas Stars and Nashville Predators are among those who could be suitors for the 37-year-old blueliner. It's still relatively early, so there certainly exists the possibility of additional teams to enter the fray.
The kicker here is that Burns has 3 years remaining and carries an $8M AAV, so it's difficult to imagine the Sharks moving him without at least agreeing to retain some salary or taking back a problem contract. The silver-lining, however, is that Burns' actual salary in each of his next 3 seasons is lower than his AAV. Burns is owed just $6.5M in actual salary this season and $5M in actual salary in each of the two years that follow, totaling just $16.5M over the final 3 seasons of his deal.
