The Toronto Maple Leafs are set to host the Golden Knights on Tuesday night, looking to extend their winning streak to four games. While the Buds struggled out of the gate, they have been playing better hockey as of late, especially in the net, allowing just four goals in the past three games. The projected starter against the Golden Knights is Erik Kallgren, as both Matt Murray and Ilya Samsonov are dealing with injuries. Head coach Sheldon Keefe spoke with the media on Tuesday to share an update for both injured goaltenders.

Keefe said that Murray will participate in a full practice on Wednesday, which is a significant step in the right direction for the 28-year-old netminder. Samsonov, on the other hand, is now week-to-week with his injury, which is definitely not what the team and fans were hoping to hear. Thankfully, Matt Murray is slated to return to practice this week.

"(Samsonov) felt good. He is not going to be available for us this week. The timeline is uncertain, call it week to week at this point, but the fact he is on the ice today and feeling good enough to do that is an encouraging sign."

Sheldon Keefe on the status of Ilya Samsonov

Samsonov has played 8 games for the Leafs this season, boasting a 6-2 record with a 2.23GAA and .921SV%. He has played great for the Buds, but suffered an unfortunate injury against the Bruins that will now force him to miss some time. For now, the crease belongs to Kallgren, who can hopefully hold down the fort until Murray returns.
