The Leafs got some of their organizational goaltending depth sorted out on Sunday when Joseph Woll dressed for the Marlies after a long recovery from off-season surgery. Unfortunately, they lost Dylan Ferguson for a few weeks due to an upper body injury during Saturday's game. The organization also got some good and bad news regarding Ilya Samsonov, who was injured just over 2 weeks ago in a game against the Boston Bruins.

Samsonov appears to be making progress, however, per Sheldon Keefe, we will not see him return to action this week. The good news? Keefe said that Samsonov will return to the ice tomorrow and will travel with the club on its upcoming four-game road trip.

There was also some bad news to report, as T.J. Brodie, who was a late scratch last Saturday against the Canucks, will remain out and won't join the team on the road trip. Keefe said that Brodie hasn't progressed as far as they would've liked by this point, so it is unknown how much longer he will be out.

With the team playing well defensively, the news on Brodie isn't as bad as it could be. Timothy Liljegren and Rasmus Sandin have done well to keep the team afloat in the absences of Muzzin and Brodie and the arrival of Jordie Benn has been a real unexpected surprise for the Buds. Benn has played at a level above what we're accustomed to seeing from him and is currently slotted in with Morgan Rielly on the team's top pair.
