Since returning from his wrist injury, Minten has played in 14 games for the Blazers where he has been raking in the points. In those 14 games he has 9 goals and 22 points, producing at a 1.57 point-per-game pace. The rate at which he is producing is somewhat surprising given that last season in 67 games, he totaled 55 points. In less than a third of the games he played last season, he is almost half way to his point total.
When they drafted Minten, Kyle Dubas said the Leafs had him in their top-15. Central Scouting had him ranked as a mid-second round pick or early third round pick. Given the way he has produced this season, Minten recently earned a promotion to the Blazers' first line and last night against obvious first overall pick Connor Bedard, he registered 2 goals as Kamloops dismantled Regina 9-2. Minten has surged past his expected development curve so far this season and even if his numbers level out a bit, it would appear the Leafs got another second round steal behind Matthew Knies and Nick Robertson.
Well done, Kyle Dubas. Well done.
