The trade deadline is 18 days away and with that comes all sorts of rumors, especially for the Leafs, who are far and away the league's most reported on team. One of these rumors is the possibility of putting the name Domi on a jersey again.

Max Domi has longstanding ties to the Leafs organization, given that his dad was a fan favourite and, as a kid, he spent countless hours in and around the Leafs when he was growing up and it appears the stars may be aligning for him to come back to Toronto at the deadline.

The main reason that Max has been brought up in the Leafs' rumor mill is for his "grit", which has led to many questioning where this "grit" is coming from given that he has only been credited with 12 hits on the season.

The "grit" of Max that is being referred to is his toughness and ability to battle in the tough areas such as the corners, along the boards and in front of the net. Having "grit" doesn't mean he has to throw a ton of hits, especially just because that's what his dad did. Max is one of those players like Marchand or Wilson who can get under an opponent's skin constantly and is a guy you love to have on your team but hate if you don't.

Adding Domi should not cost too much - maybe a pick and a prospect. It would give the Leafs a left winger to slot in next to Tavares and Nylander and would prevent opposing players from taking liberties on the Leafs' more skilled players.

Domi may not be big, but, like his father, he's got a bit of a crazy eye and will not hesitate to drop the gloves and start swinging if the situation calls for it - and sometimes, even when it doesn't.

If big hits are what you want, Max is not your guy. If heart is what you want, Max has that and can act as that catalyst to really get his linemates going. Love him or hate him, Domi is a spark plug.
