Leafs Provide Update on Injuries on Liljegren and Engvall
The Leafs announced earlier this week that Pierre Engvall and Timothy Liljegren would miss time during training camp, with Liljegren missing all of it. Today while kicking off training camp Kyle Dubas updated the status of both.
Pierre Engvall will be re-evaluated on October 3 and is dealing with a foot/ankle issue while Liljegren will be out a minimum of six weeks after undergoing hernia surgery on Friday.
With Liljegren being out a minimum of six weeks, the Leafs will be able to place him on LTIR and get cap relief of $1.4M. That would put the Leafs just $94K over the cap without any other roster moves. Should Pierre Engvall also miss significant time, the Leafs could have $3.65M in cap space to begin the season.
Other injuries the Leafs noted are that Joseph Woll is dealing with a shoulder injury and Mikhail Abramov is out with a back injury.
