The Leafs still have a full compliment of players at training camp as we await the first wave of cuts, which should be coming down the pipe before the weekend. While the first wave of cuts is yet to occur, at least one cut has already gone down.

Per CapFriendly Transactions, the Leafs have sent forward Ty Voit back to his Junior club, the OHL's Sarnia Sting. Voit had been a late addition to the Leafs' training camp roster, most likely due to the injury to Adam Gaudette.

Voit will look to build off of an incredible 2021-22 season that saw him post 26 goals and 80 points in just 67 games. He was also a point per game for the Sting in the playoffs, notching 6 points in 6 games.

Though Voit is signed to an NHL contract, since he was born after 2002 and was sent back to Junior, his contract will not count towards the Leafs' 50-contract limit. The Leafs currently have 48/50 contracts filled, which means there is still room for both Rasmus Sandin and Zach Aston-Reese to sign deals. Since at least one roster player will need to be moved eventually to accommodate Sandin's new deal (whenever he signs one), the Buds will also have room to add Matthew Knies in the spring and remain under the 50-contract threshold.
