Mitch Marner's ongoing 23-game point streak is not the only streak on the line tonight for the Toronto Maple Leafs when they take on the New York Rangers. As a team, the Leafs have recorded at least a point in 15 straight games, one game shy of the franchise record 16. Their last loss in regulation was back on November 11th, when they fell 4 -2 to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Since then, they have posted a 12-0-3 record.

This franchise record dates back to 2003-04 season. Between the days of November 24th, 2003 and December 26th, 2003, the Buds posted 14 wins, one overtime loss, and one tie (this was the last season where an NHL game could end in a tie). This was a Leaf team captained by Mats Sundin, who posted a team high 75 points that season (good for 12th in the league). Between the pipes that year was hall-of-famer Ed Belfour, who posted an impressive 0.918 save percentage over his 59 games played that season.

The Leafs will not be given anything easy tonight, as they are facing a New York Rangers team who are on a four game win streak of their own. The Rangers currently hold the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference by just one point, sitting with 35 points over 30 games played - a somewhat disappointing spot for them, given they finished last season with 52 wins and 110 points. If the Leafs are going to tie the record tonight, they will have to earn it against a surging Rangers team.
