The move indicates that Matt Murray has progressed far enough that he is going to be able to return to at least full practice with the Leafs after dealing with a concussion, which he suffered near the end of the regular season. Not that it changes the Leafs' plans for who is starting against Florida after Ilya Samsonov's performance against Tampa, but it does add some additional insurance and shelter for Joseph Woll in case he or Murray are needed.
Murray struggled to stay health this season missing at least a month on three separate occasions - an adductor, ankle and now concussion. In 26 games for the Leafs Murray went 14-8-2 while posting a 3.01 GAA and a .903 save percentage.
