With all of the injuries to the Leafs' blueline this season, we've seen the Buds use 11 different defensemen thus far. The most recent has been rookie Mac Hollowell, who has played the last 5 games in the blue and white. In those five games he registered two assists and was a plus 3. The Leafs went 5-0 over that stretch.

Today however, Hollowell was reassigned to the AHL's Toronto Marlies in what appears to be preparation for Conor Timmins to make his Leafs debut. Timmins was acquired from Arizona last week for AHLer Curtis Douglas and has been practicing with the Leafs, learning the systems and getting settled with his new teammates since last Friday.

The Leafs have been forced to test their defensive depth so far this season but adding the 24-year-old Timmins gives them some much-needed size and another right shot as the Leafs currently only have 2 on the back end.

We'll have to wait on the official announcement before we get too excited about the Timmins debut though, as we also know that T.J. Brodie has been working his way towards a return from an oblique injury. Earlier this week, Sheldon Keefe had stated that Brodie looked the best he has since suffering the injury, so the Hollowell demotion could also mean a Brodie return, though a Timmins debut appears more likely at this point.
