Game 5 didn't get off to the best start for the Leafs and the "what's old is new" lines from Sheldon Keefe, as it took almost half the period before all four lines got one shift in. That is thanks to, no surprise here, penalties. Going into game 5 Keefe explained that it wasn't so much a demotion for Nylander and that he wanted to have Engvall and Kampf on one line and Mikheyev and Kerfoot on another. Likely to balance out the defensive responsibilities against Tampa.

The first period was rough for the lines, but the second and third saw the Leafs dominate play in long stretches. Nylander had his best game of the series and always seems to play well alongside Kampf and Engvall. The fourth line of Spezza, Blackwell and Kase was exactly the kind of fourth line the Leafs have needed in this series. A high energy, forecheck that finished their hits and was defensively responsible. So it's no surprise that Clifford and Simmonds are scratches once again tonight.

On the back end. The Leafs will keep Holl on the third pair after an unexpected, but much needed exceptional Game 5 - probably in spite of Steve Simmons arrogant question after Game 4.
