There has been plenty of speculation over what the Leafs are going to do this summer to replace the likely departing Jack Campbell. We all know the names that have been tossed around both in the trade market and in the 2022 free agent class, but according to TSN's Carlo Colaiacovo, the Leafs' number 1 target may be in New Jersey.

Colaiacovo is reporting that the Leafs are actually linked to Thunder Bay, ON native MacKenzie Blackwood, which lines up both with what Dubas was looking to acquire (an inexpensive reclamation project). Whether the plan would be to roll with Blackwood as a number 1 or have him as a 1B/backup remains to be seen, but it's nice to finally see the Leafs actually being linked to a goalie. People were starting to get nervous, with free agency less than 2 weeks away and with no contract talks progressing with Campbell.

This really does feel like a deal that could get done on the draft floor, when all of the league's GM's are present in one place.
