Drafted in the fourth round of the 2020 draft by the Leafs, goaltender Artur Akhtyamov was described as a "long-term project." Since being drafted however, Akhtyamov has been lights out in the VHL and his development has been impressive.

The 21-year-old netminder has been on fire over his last 11 games for Neftyanik Almetievsk, going 9-1-1 while posting a .974 save percentage and 4 shutouts. Impressive right? What's even more impressive is the fact that he has posted back to back to back shutouts. Yes, you read that correctly. Akhtyamov has posted 3 straight shutouts.

Three straight shutouts now gives him 6 on the season to go along with a .951 save percentage and a 17-6-2 record overall. His numbers are certainly proving that he is way too good to be playing in the VHL (Russia equivalent of the AHL) and could make the jump to the KHL at some point this year or possibly next season.
