Honestly, I can't remember a time when the Leafs' goalie pipeline was ever as strong as it is right now. Joseph Woll is blossoming into a legitimate NHL goalie, Artur Akhtyamov is proudly sporting a .923 SV% in the KHL this season, Vyacheslav Peksa is off to a rough start in the ECHL, but is also a solid prospect.

The one goalie outshining all but Woll right now is Denis Hildeby. The 22-year-old Swede is absolutey dominating the AHL with the Toronto Marlies right now.

Standing at a massive 6-foot-7, "The Hildebeast" takes up a lot of net. With the NHL trending towards bigger and bigger goalies, his size is a massive asset. Having said that, size alone doesn't get you a .950 SV%, a 1.26 GAA or two straight shutouts in the AHL. This kid has it.

The Leafs' 2022 4th round pick has adapted to plying in North America extremely quickly, having just arrived midway through last season.

The Leafs have the option to bring a third goaltender to Sweden for their Global Series trip. Some are suggesting Hildeby should get the nod over Martin Jones. A trip home would be a nice reward for Hildeby, but taking a red hot goaltender off the ice for nearly 2 weeks just doesn't make sense. Jones should go to Sweden,
and Hildeby should stay with the Marlies and continue to build on his impressive start.
