One of the greatest players to ever don the Maple Leafs jersey, Keon was actually named the greatest player in team history as part of the Maple Leafs centennial celebration in 2016 and was then named as one of the 100 Greatest NHL Players in NHL history the following year.
Keon started his illustrious career in 1960-61 and played for 15 seasons in Toronto, appearing in 1062 games, scoring 365 goals, 858 points, and most importantly won 4 Stanley Cups (1961-62, 1962-63, 1963-64, 1966-67).
Keon also won the Calder Memorial Trophy as the NHL's top rookie in 1960-61, won back to back Lady Byng Memorials in 1961-62 and 1962-63, and capped off the last Stanley Cup in franchise history with the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP.
At the end of the 1975 season, Keon and then-owner Harold Ballard butted heads because Ballard wouldn't offer Keon a "fair contract" but then would not release him either. He ended up signing a contract in the WHA for 4 seasons before returning to the NHL with the Hartford Whalers.
He finished his career playing an additional 234 games for the Whalers, adding 31 goals and 128 points, for a grand total of 986 points in 1,296 games.
