Leafs linked to top trade target in Carolina
As Brad Treliving looks to reshape the Leafs' blueline, it has been reported that he checked in on Erik Karlsson and Travis Sanheim among others. Now that the draft is complete, he and other GMs can now focus on re-signing their pending UFAs and work the phones to see what exactly is out there on the trade market.
According to The Fourth Period's Dave Pagnotta, the Hurricanes are hoping to sign Brett Pesce by Saturday or trade him. Pesce, 28, has one year left on his current deal that comes with a $4.025M cap hit. Pagnotta reported that the Leafs are one of three teams he knows of that have called the Hurricanes about the right-shot blueliner.
The 6'3, 205 pound defenseman would add some much needed size to the Leafs' blueline and help fill the void left by the departing Justin Holl.
