Leafs losing key member of development staff to the Habs
Sportsnet's Eric Engels reported today that Leafs skills coach Adam Nicholas will be leaving the organization to take a job with the Montreal Canadiens.
Nicholas, a skating specialist listed as a Skill Development Consultant, Joined the Leafs in the 2019-20 season, his first time being hired by an NHL team. With Montreal trying to bring its organization into the 21st century, it makes sense that they would hire someone out of the Maple Leafs development program.
The Leafs won't be left high and dry, however, as Randy Milani is still the team's official Skating Consultant in their Player Development department.
Engels says to expect the official announcement within the next few days.
It's not unheard of for personnel who are currently employed by teams to be granted permission to interview with jobs with another organization.
All the best to Adam in the next stage of his young career. We have seen first hand what the Leafs have been able to do and how much they've been able to improve in the skating department. It stands to reason that the Habs are hoping that the skating specialist can replicate the success he's had in Toronto with in Montreal.
