The current bottom-6 is represented by Zach Aston-Reese, David Kampf, Denis Malgin, Pierre Engvall, Pontus Holmberg and Calle Jarnkrok. There is room for Anderson even without an injury and his stats back that up.
Dating back to the 2020-21 season when he arrived in Toronto as part of the Andreas Johnsson trade, he played in parts of 3 seasons with the Toronto Marlies. He went from 7 goals and 11 points in 20 games to 26 goals and 42 points in 56 games last year and has improved to start this season with 10 goals and 18 points in 15 games.
On top of his new-found offensive prowess, he is a dependable defensive forward who can kill penalties and would fill out the bottom of any lineup. Anderson is a player who has been on a bit of a prospect clock, now at 24 years-of-age, but it would appear as though he's finally ready for a look. Then question is; can the Leafs afford to squeeze him in for a look while they're playing so well?
